January – Snowdrop & Carnation

January’s birth flowers are the charming snowdrop and the carnation. As soon as winter comes to an end, snowdrops start to bloom, being one of the first spring flowers to grow. Because of that, they symbolize true beauty and hope. Also, their small white bells stand as a symbol of purity and innocence.

In some parts of the world, though, snowdrops are seen as bad luck, as they often grow in churchyards and cemeteries.

Carnations are seen as a symbol of perseverance since they are the only flowers that defy the atmospheric conditions, thriving from summer right into winter.
