4. Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia reginae)
Bird of Paradise is one of the most exotic plants in the world, with large, distinctive orange or blue flowers that some may say resemble a bird’s head and beak. It’s no wonder why it’s considered the queen of the houseplant world; its massive leaves create a tropical focal point, while its unique flowers add a majestic vibe to any room.
What’s even more surprising is that this tropical plant is very easy to grow indoors. Although it’s a vigorous, rapidly growing houseplant, it should be kept pot-bound, fertilized weekly, and kept moist. It also needs bright light with some direct sunlight.
But don’t expect it to flower too soon; birds of paradise usually need three to five years of growth to reach their majestic phase, where they start to bloom.
