10. Orchids (Orchidaceae)
We’ve left the best for last. Orchids are among the most varied of all plant species. They come from different parts of the world, from woodlands to deserts to tropical forests, but the ones most people seem to prefer are those from subtropical and tropical climates.
A flowering orchid is the ultimate tropical plant you may want to have in your house. With their color varieties of pink, purple, red, orange, white, yellow, and variegated, these charming plants can truly turn a dull room into a nice, colorful space.
Avoid direct heat or drafts, dry air, and direct sunlight. Instead, aim to provide your orchid with a warm, humid environment. Generally, you should water it once per week. Make sure you allow the soil to dry between waterings.
