Purple Coneflower
The purple version of the Coneflower is the most popular and hardiest option. But you can also find them in pink, white, orange, and multi-colored cultivars. These flowers are drought-tolerant and will continue to blossom throughout the summer heat.
They also have the reputation of being one of the easiest perennials to grow. Once deeply rooted, besides being ok with the heat, they’ll also keep deer away from your garden!
Hardiness: Zones 4-9
Planting: Full sun
Care: In the winter, leave those remaining flower stalks on. And cut them down to the ground at the beginning of spring. Also, be sure to divide the clusters when they get too big. This should happen about every 4 years.
