7. Ponytail Palm (Beaucarnea recurvata)
In the past few years, the ponytail palm has become a popular indoor plant, and it’s easy to see why. Its lush, long, curly leaves and sleek bulb-like trunk make it visually stunning, and the fact that it’s one of the most forgiving plants available out there makes it an excellent choice.
A tolerant plant native to eastern Mexico, it can live for as much as 350 years in its natural habitat. It’s an easy-going plant with an expanded basal stem structure that makes it drought-resistant.
Though the natural habitat of the ponytail palm is very sunny, it does well in partial shade too. Despite its name, it’s not actually a palm, but a succulent and a member of the agave family.
