8. Parlor Palm (Chamaedorea elegans)
Parlor palm is another easy-going plant you may want to have in your house. Though it grows pretty slowly, the parlor palm can reach over 10 feet in height, making it a wonderful choice for beginners.
Despite its tropical origins, it’s tolerant of low light. If exposed to plenty of bright, indirect light, the parlor palm will grow faster. Like other palms, this one has shallow, sensitive roots and doesn’t respond well to frequent repotting.
Having this easy-going plant in your house also helps purify the indoor air and add humidity. If it’s healthy and happy, a parlor palm can live for up to several decades as an indoor tree and even more outdoors in the right climate.
