The Home Team publishes practical guides for the house and the garden. This page explains what we cover, how our guides are written and checked, and how we keep them current.
What we cover
Our guides are organized in four sections.
- The House: paint and color, renovations, cleaning, repairs, storage and the features buyers look for.
- Garden Guides: beds and borders, trees, lawns, landscaping and keeping wildlife and pests in check.
- Indoor Plants: care guides for houseplants such as pothos, calla lilies, rubber plants and umbrella plants, plus plant problems and diseases.
- DIY: weekend projects, cleaning hacks and small fixes you can do yourself.
How we choose topics
We start from the questions readers ask and the jobs they face around the home: a room that needs painting, a bed with gaps in it, a plant with yellow leaves.
The seasons drive part of our calendar. No advertiser chooses or approves what we write.
How our guides are written
Our guides are written with AI assistance and reviewed by our editorial team before publication. AI tools help us research, outline and draft; they do not decide what we publish.
An editor checks every guide for accuracy, safety and usefulness, rewrites what needs rewriting and removes anything we cannot support. A guide goes live only when an editor approves it.
Sources and fact-checking
We rely on authoritative sources wherever we can. For plants and gardens, that means university cooperative extension services and the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map.
For home safety, chemicals and products, we use the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and manufacturers’ instructions.
For plant safety around pets, we check the ASPCA toxic and non-toxic plant list. We link to sources so you can check them too.
Safety comes first
When a project involves electricity, gas, roofing, structural changes or ladders, we say so plainly and point you to a licensed professional.
When a guide mentions a pesticide, herbicide or cleaning chemical, we tell you to follow the product label, which is the legal instruction for its use.
Updates and corrections
We review guides when advice, products or safety guidance change, and we update them rather than leave outdated advice online. Each guide shows the date it was published or last updated.
If you spot an error or a broken link, tell us through our contact page or at info@ineditagency.com. We read every message and correct confirmed errors promptly.
Independence from advertising
The Home Team is supported by advertising and, on some pages, affiliate links. Ads are labelled, and affiliate relationships never decide which products we recommend.
Our Advertiser Disclosure explains how the site is funded.
